Save the date for the 2017 Girls on the Run 5K: May 20, 2017
Spend a morning in May with Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley! Pass out T-shirts at packet pickup, hand out Mardi Gras beads and water to runners and walkers along the course, award ribbons to finishers and more!
We have both individual volunteer opportunities and corporate/school/group volunteer opportunities available!

5K Volunteer Roles:
Course Marshals: Safety volunteers will be posted throughout the course at major intersections and areas of high concentration. These volunteers have been recruited ahead of time, so please sign up for this team ONLY if you have been requested to do so by the Race Director. (6:00 am-9:30 am)
Course Monitors: These great people will line the course at designated spots to cheer on the girls and provide any assistance needed. You may be asked to walk to your place on the course (up to one mile). (6:45 am-9:30 am)
Finish Line: Pass out finisher awards to all participants at the end of the race! (7:00 am-10:00 am)
First Aid: We ask that these crucial volunteers be EMTs, doctors, nurses, firefighters or have extensive knowledge of first aid and CPR. Please contact Race Director Laura Krebs to volunteer in this capacity. (email@example.com or 408-313-1512) (6:00 am-10:00 am)
Floaters: Floaters will help wherever they are needed! You can expect to be on your feet and on the go in this position. (6:00 am-10:00 am)
Food: Set up and hand out food and beverages to our athletes at the finish line. (6:00-10:00 am)
Friday Set Up: Before the crowds arrive, these busy workers will be setting up the course and equipment at the venue the day before the event. This will involve some heavy lifting. (anytime between 1:00 pm-7:00 pm)
Greeters: Will be stationed at the main venue entrances and will provide event day flyers and direction to spectators. (6:00 am-9:00 am)
Happy Hair: Help the race participants before their run do their hair in the GOTR Girl way! (6:00 am-9:00 am)
Inspiration Station: These energetic volunteers will be in our Family Festival helping participants and their families take pictures behind our over-sized "I am Girls on the Run" frames. Help us capture all the faces of Girls on the Run! (6:00 am-9:00 am)
Mardi Gras Beads Stations: Hand out mardi gras beads to the runners as they pass by at miles 1 and 2. (6:00 am-9:30 am)
Motivation Station: Located near the finish, this high energy and enthusiastic station requires lots of cheering to get the girls to the finish. (6:45 am-10:00 am)
Parking: The parking volunteers will work as a team with our public safety officers to facilitate the safe delivery of girls to the event and the flow of cars into parking spaces. This is a critical area where we need assertive volunteers! Parking volunteers should be 18 and over. (5:15 am-9:30 am)
Recycling: Help us reduce our footprint by monitoring the disposal of items and making sure our refuse is properly separated. (6:00 am-10:00 am)
Registration: Check in runners the morning of the event and give them their bib number and t-shirt. (6:00 am-9:00 am)
Tear Down: After the run is completed and everyone has gone home, these folks are cleaning up the party! This will involve some heavy lifting. (10:00 am-1:00 pm)
Thursday Pre-Race Bib Pick Up: Volunteers will assist with packet pick-up. (Sports Basement, 1875 Bascom Ave, Campbell, Shift #1: 11:30 am-4:00 pm, Shift #2: 4:00 pm-8:30 pm)
Volunteer Station: Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with placement of volunteers and distribution of volunteer t-shirts. (5:00 am-9:00 am)
Water Stations: Water station volunteers will hand out water to athletes and cheer them on! They will also help to set up and tear down the water station. (6:00 am-9:30 am)
Walking Sweep: This person will walk behind the final participants, letting volunteers along the course know the course can be closed down at this point. (7:00 am-10:00 am)
