Welcome to Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley

At Girls on the Run, we offer life-changing, physical activity-based after-school programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grades throughout Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Our goal is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. During the 10 weeks from March through mid-May, the girls train for the Girls on the Run 5K run/walk while learning life skills such as healthy decision-making and teamwork. Girls on the Run is so much fun!

Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley is an independent council of Girls on the Run International, which has over 200 councils in all 50 states across the US.

New Study Demonstrates that Girls on the Run Transforms Young Girls' Lives!

We are excited to share the results of an independent study, conducted by leading youth development expert Dr. Maureen R. Weiss, that provides compelling evidence that participating in Girls on the Run results in lasting, transformative change!

  • This groundbreaking study found that 97% of girls learned critical life skills at Girls on the Run, including managing emotions, resolving conflict at home, helping others, or making intentional decisions, that they are using at home, at school, and with their friends.
  • In addition to learning critical life skills, the study showed that Girls on the Run inspired a long-term impact that positively changed grils during the program and beyond. In fact, 85% of girls improved in confidence, competence, caring, character, or connection to others.
  • Girls who were the least active at the start of the season increased their physical activity level by more that 40%.

The study affirms that at an age when girls are contantly tyring to measure up tho ideas of who they should be when they're still discovering who they are, Girls on the Run shows them that their potential isn't just enormous, it's beyond measure.
