Welcome to Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley

At Girls on the Run, we offer life-changing, physical activity-based after-school programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grades throughout Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Our goal is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. During the 10 weeks from March through mid-May, the girls train for the Girls on the Run 5K run/walk while learning life skills such as healthy decision-making and teamwork. Girls on the Run is so much fun!

Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley is an independent council of Girls on the Run International, which has over 200 councils in all 50 states across the US.

Interested in coaching or starting a new site?

We had a fantastic season with Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole programs at a record-breaking 102 program sites in 2017! More than 470 amazing volunteer coaches committed to inspiring our girls to lead healthy, active and joyful lives. If you would like to join these awesome volunteers for the 2018 season, we have several upcoming events where you can learn more about what it takes to be a coach, how to start a team, and meet the Girls on the Run staff.

Here are the details:

- Thursday, August 10 - Shop for a Cause at the Athleta stores in Palo Alto (Town & Country) AND San Jose (Valley Fair)
Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley staff will be at both Athleta stores from 5:00-7:00 pm to answer questions about our programs and volunteering as a coach. Plus, Athleta will donate a portion of the in-store purchases that night at both stores to Girls on the Run. Join us to tackle your back to school shopping list, ask questions, and say hello!

- Tuesday, August 22 - Information Night at Sports Basement in Campbell (1875 S. Bascom Avenue, Campbell, in the Pruneyard Shopping Center)
You're invited to join us for a fun evening where we'll answer questions about volunteering as a coach and what's needed to start a Girls on the Run program at your school. This event is open to everyone - men, women, parents, neighbors, teachers, community volunteers, etc. - so feel free to spread the word!
